ESE Information

Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services at Bay Haven Charter Academy are in accordance with the charter established between Bay District Schools and Charter Schools USA/Bay Haven. In the charter it states:

"If the IEP team determines an ESE student can benefit from the educational services provided at the Charter School, that student is eligible to be enrolled. If the IEP team determines that an ESE students would be better served at a different school operated by the Sponsor (Bay District Schools), the Charter School shall not be obligated to serve the student."

The charter is also very clear in stating what type of service delivery models are to be implemented at Bay Haven:

"Using the consultative model, certified ESE teacher(s) retained by the Charter School will be responsible for ensuring the goals and objectives on the student’s IEP are continuously being addressed by all Charter School personnel involved with the student."

A Personal Note from the ESE Specialist

As the ESE Specialist at Bay Haven Charter Academy, I feel it is my responsibility to inform parents of students with disabilities. Our philosophy at the school is to deliver a quality education with as much individual attention as possible. However, if your child is in need of a self-contained classroom or alternative curriculum (modified not accommodated), we are not obligated, nor expected to provide those services. The Bay District School system does offer more intensive services. My hope is that you will consider this information before determining which school will meet your child’s needs.
