NCLB Notification Spring 2008

Under the President's education plan, No Child Left Behind, parents are to be notified of the qualifications of their child's teacher(s).  Those currently completing (#) the Highly Qualified (HQ) requirements are in the process of: transferring an out-of-state certificate; taking state-mandated tests; awaiting the arrival of a new teaching certificate; awaiting a certificate with a new endorsement (at a personal cost of $75); or in the process of completing up to 300 hours/15 semester hours of education for an ESOL (English Speaker of Other Languages) or gifted student endorsement.  It is possible for a teacher to be HQ (Highly Qualified) in a subject area but out of field because of not yet completing ESOL or gifted endorsement coursework.  If you would like more information, please contact Julie Maddox at 248-3500.
